Oman Customs officials foil diesel smuggling bid

MUSCAT: Customs officials foiled an attempt to smuggle diesel at the Wadi Jizi border post through the Kitnah area.

A truck, being used at one of the crushers, off loaded the diesel to an oil tanker for sale in the black market.

In another incident, two trucks loaded with diesel were also seized in the same area while the suspects were preparing to sell the fuel outside the country.

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) foiled bid to smuggle fake cigarettes into the country through Wajajah and Kutmat Melaha posts. A large quantity of fake cigarettes were seized.

A consignment of 600 cartons of fake cigarettes, concealed in a truck, were seized at the Wadi Jizi border post. All the accused have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation and trial.

Nine people were arrested in the wilayat of Saham for violating the labour and residency laws.
