NEW DEHLI: The Indian major ports wraped under the Hudhud cyclone that caused devastation and low revenue of imports.
The zone, with jurisdiction over ports of Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Gangavaram and Krishnapatnam, had netted a revenue of Rs.6,543 crore during 2013-14. As on December 31, 2014, the zone could collect a revenue of Rs.4,808 crore.
At the International Customs Day observed at Customs House by the Customs officials, staff, exporters, importers, customs house agents and other stakeholders here on Tuesday, it was stated that the marginal fall in revenue was compensated to a large extent on account of growth registered by the Krishnapatnam Port.
International Customs Day is observed every year on January 26 under aegis of the World Customs Organisation. WCO is recognised as voice of global customs community with 170 customs administrations from across the world being members.
This year’s theme is ‘coordinated border management – an inclusive approach for connecting the stakeholders.
