KARACHI: Pakistan Customs has vowed to refund the garments exporters’ stuck up claims against rebate as soon as possible.
Customs officials pledged this in a meeting with the delegation of Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufactures and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) at Customs House. MCC Port Qasim Collector Agha Shahid Majeed and Collector Exports Dr Wasif Memon also assured the exporters of addressing their problems on priority basis.

The Collectors said that pending rebate claims will be settled on immediate basis and advised the delegation to inform the member for segregating their claims and submit to the relevant collectorate respectively.
The PRGMEA informed the collectors that the members are facing liquidity crunch due to their stuck capital with the Customs. Arshad said that rebate claims have not been settled yet for which members are very perturbed.
The Collectors listened and replied that the matter is of serious nature and the relevant staff would be taken to task.
