KARACHI: The KWSB’s campaign against illicit hydrants entered third day on Thursday.

At least two people were taken into custody while demolishing illicit hydrants. The KWSB along with the police and Rangers carried out a campaign against unlawful water hydrants in Landhi and Baldia Town and destroyed more than 50 illegal hydrants in two days.

Earlier, KWSB continued operation against illegal hydrants in different areas of the metropolis including Landhi, Korangi, Surjani and Baldia Town.  A heavy contingent of Rangers personnel is escorting Water Board team during the campaign. According to the authorities, many hydrants were being operated illegally by the tanker mafia, who stole water from the main supply lines. From now onwards, water would only be supplied through taps and the underground supply lines.
