Illegal use of compressor major cause of low gas pressure

ISLAMABAD: The people have protested against the illegal use of compressor on natural gas connections and demanded stern action against the consumers who use illegal and mean which is also cause of low gas pressure.

The consumers of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline (SNGPL) Rawalpindi region said that the use of compressors on connection of Sui gas is not only illegal but also dangerous in houses. Muhammad Adeel, a resident of Satellite Town said that some people are using compressors to increase gas pressure in their houses and creating problems for their neighbours, which is not only illegal but also disturbing their supply.

“We have been deprived of gas for weeks because some houses in our surroundings are using compressor,” said Tahir Khan, a resident of Muslim Town, Sadiqabad. “We are deprived of gas because of this illegal practice,” he added. When contacted an official of SNGPL, said that it is an illegal practice and we would take strict legal action against the violators.

He said that the SNGPL has started removing compressors from houses on complaints of low gas pressure in various localities. He said that customer service centre was working round the clock to address complaints and they will carry out on the spot checking on complaints of low pressure.
