IOCO starts survey of pharmaceutical units under SROs 565(I)/2006

KARACHI: The Input-Output Co-efficient Organization (IOCO) has started conducting a survey of pharmaceutical units in order to allow them to carry on their imports of pharmaceutical raw material under concessionary SROs 565(I)/2006 and 575(I)/2006.

The sources informed Customs Today that the authorities concerned of IOCO are conducting survey of pharmaceutical units on daily basis in order to check the manufacturing capacity, license of Drug Regulatory Authority (DRA) and production as per the allocated quota of imported raw material.

“During the survey, the IOCO authorities are checking the production, manufacturing capacity of the importer and also verify the allocated quota under concessionary SROs 565(I)/2006 and 575(I)/2006 for production of pharmaceuticals”, sources added.

The sources further informed that the authorities concerned of IOCO have clear directives to verify each and every mandatory aspect before allowing the pharma importer to start their manufacturing process. The IOCO authorities are conducting survey of those pharmaceutical units which are recommended by the Director-IOCO.

The sources further claimed that the Director IOCO has clear directives to ensure transparent survey and fulfill legal requirements during the entire process. They claimed that the IOCO authorities have made dozens of surveys of well-known pharmaceutical units and found no anomalies yet, adding that the process is still continued as per directives.
