Abbasi, Zanganeh to discuss construction of $7.6b gas pipeline

ISLAMABAD: A Pakistani delegation led by Oil and Petroleum minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has arrived in Tehran to discuss ways to speed up the construction of $7.6 billion Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline.

In his meeting Iranian counterpart Bijan Namdar Zanganeh today, Abbasi will present new proposals to the Iranian side to accelerate the pipeline’s construction.

The country has already built its 900 kilometer share of the pipeline on its own soil and is waiting for the 700 kilometer Pakistani side of the pipeline to be built.

Earlier, Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has said that Pak-Iran gas pipeline project has not been abandoned. He informed that Pakistan and Iran are improving their border mechanism to avoid misunderstandings in future.
