ISLAMABAD: The hearing of TCS and Smart Zone case will be on January 28, 2015. Adjudication Collector Seema Raza Bukhari will hear the case. The notices have been issued to both companies but Smart Zone did not give any response. The TCS in its reply said that we had an agreement with the Smart Zone to deliver the items and we have no relationship except this with the Smart Zone. If the Smart Zone has given us the non-duty paid items to deliver, it is the mistake of Smart Zone not the TCS.
However, there was a clause in the agreement that the TCS will deliver the items after getting evidence regarding the legality of the items but it failed to do so. The TCS delivered more than 8,000 items but did not ask for evidence and delivered the items with Afghan Transit Trade stickers. Secondly, the agreement was just limited to delivery of items from Peshawar to Lahore and Rawalpindi was not mentioned in it while the non duty paid items were recovered from Rawalpindi TCS warehouse by the customs intelligence officials. These questions are still unanswered.
