Admin Member Shahid Jatoi for early completion of inquiries against corrupt officials

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Administration Member Shahid Hussain Jatoi has directed the inquiry officials to pick up the pace to complete the pending inquires against customs officers facing charges of graft and misuse of powers, it is learnt here.

Sources said that the administration wing was investigating as many as 413 cases of corruption and other charges against the customs officials. They added that officers of BS 16-20 of different regions, including Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad, were under the clouds of investigation.

Showing dismay over the delay in inquiry reports, the FBR member urged all investigation officers to complete the probe in the said cases so that the department could take action in this regard.

The sources also claimed that more than 1,000 officials of the FBR were facing inquiries following different criminal charges, adding that in most of the cases the inquiry teams had sufficient evidence, which needed verification.
