Algerian Army, Customs seize contraband items, arrest 121 smugglers

ALGIERS: Algeria People’s National Army (ANP) and Algerian Customs have seized six vehicles, six motorcycles, 2,680 liters of fuel, an amount of money estimated at 121.700 dinars, three satellite phones and other items and nabbed 121 smugglers of African different nationalities in the joint operation last month, The National Defense Ministry said in a statement here the other day.

“As part of border security and the fight against smuggling and organized crime, detachments of the National Army, under the operational areas of Tamanrasset, In Amguel, Bordj Badji Mokhtar and In Guezzam (6th military region), in coordination with units of the National Police and Algerian Customs, arrested in December 2014, one hundred twenty-one (121) smugglers of African different nationalities,” the source added.
