WARSAW: American Dairy Queen Corp is taking a run at the European market for the first time in 20 years. The Edina-based ice cream and fast food company plans to build 26 restaurants in and around Warsaw. “We are entering the Eastern European market at a time when Western brands are being embraced by a consumer base that is well informed on the importance of global brands,” said Jean Champagne, chief operations officer-international groups.
The company has signed a franchise agreement with a company called Sparrow 4 Sp. Z.O.O., which will develop the 26 DQ Grill & Chill and DQ Treat locations in the Warsaw metro area over the next five years. The first locations will open this spring. American Dairy Queen Corp. has about 6,400 locations throughout the U.S., Canada and 25 other countries.
