NEW DELHI: Android M, the next version of Android will be unveiled at the upcoming Google I/O event scheduled to take place on May 28 and 29, as per the official event agenda. However, Google realised that it listed an unannounced product and was quick to replace the original schedule with a new one.

Although the schedule did not reveal much about Android M, it did suggest that the OS will come with an updated Android for Work tool to push adoption of Android devices at workplaces and among users involved in small business, deskless jobs, logistics and warehousing jobs.

Google had offered a preview of Android 5.0 Lollipop at Google I/O 2014. So, going by the pattern it’s likely that it would showcase some bits of its successor this year.

In addition to Android M, Google will also introduce Voice Access and Proximity-based communication. Voice Access will be a service that gives users access to their Android devices through voice alone. Voice access will be open to third party apps as well. Proximity-based communication is a new technology for ‘discovering and communicating with nearby devices.’
