ANF captures 35kg drugs in 4 raids; 6 accused nabbed

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted four raids in Lahore and Peshawar and arrested six persons including two women drug smugglers.

The operations resulted in recovery of 29 kg Charas and six kg Opium. Moreover, Control Narcotic Substances (CNS) courts awarded life imprisonment and imposed forfeiture of Rs7.3 million in two separate cases.

According to details, the ANF Lahore arrested two women drug smugglers namely Salma alias Nazu and Mumtaz Bibi, both residents of Swabi and recovered 18 kg of Charas from their possession. They were arrested near Bus Stand, Bund Road, Lahore.

Similarly acting on a tip-off, the ANF Lahore arrested Muhammad Khalid, son of Abdul Majeed, a resident of Lahore and recovered 8.4 kg Charas from his possession. He was traveling on motorcycle (LEW-695-13) near Ek Moria Pull Road, Lahore. He was to deliver the drugs to street sellers.

On the other hand, the ANF Lahore, Road Check Team arrested Ihtesham Ul Haq s/o Gulzar Muhammad r/o Haripur on Faisalabad Motorway Interchange and recovered 1.2 kg of Charas from his possession. Initial interrogation revealed that the individual was local distributor of narcotics.

Meanwhile, ANF Peshawar Vigilance Team on routine checking arrested Arshad s/o Asal Din and Amjid s/o Azeem, both residents of Charsada and recovered six kg of Opium and one kg Charas from their possession. They were arrested while travelling in a passenger coach (LWC-9271) at Rashakai, Motorway Interchange. They were to distribute the drugs to street suppliers at Lahore.

Meanwhile, the Control of Narcotics Substance (CNS) court at Karachi convicted an accused Asim s/o M Akhtar Arain, FIR No 91/2012 for life imprisonment. He was convicted for recovery of 11 kg Heroin from his personal. He was arrested at Karachi Airport in 2012 while proceeding to Amersdaim.

In another case, CNS Court of Karachi forfeited Rs7.3 million in SCB Bank Account, Peshawar Branch, pertaining to an accused Kamran Sikandari.

Earlier the accused was convicted in narcotics offence. It is pertinent to mention that amount fortified has been earned through narcotics business.

Cases have been registered in ANF Police Stations and further investigation is under process.
