ANF foils bid to smuggle 7.15kg heroin worth Rs47.54m abroad

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has foiled bid to smuggle 7.15kg heroin worth Rs47.54m abroad in two different cases and arrested six suspected drug traffickers.

According to details, an ANF Lahore team seized a suspected bag at conveyer belt at Allama Iqbal International Airport and recovered 7.15Kg heroin contained in bag. Three suspected, namely Zahid Nazar r/o Lalamusa (passenger), Ramzan (tractor driver) and Samoon Masih (porter) were also arrested. The passenger intended to travel to Italy via Qatar by Qatar Airline Flight No. QR-621.

Meanwhile, ANF Peshawar team during routine checking at Peshawar Airport detained three passengers Iqbal Hussain, Arshad Ali and Syed Wazir Shah, all residents of District Buner, on suspicion of carrying heroin-filled capsules. During initial interrogation, all the accused confessed of having heroin-filled capsules in their bellies. They intended to fly for Sharjah by Shaheen Airline Flight No. NL-792. Later on, all the accused were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar for recovery of the heroin.

Both the cases have been registered at ANF police stations and further investigations are under progress.
