ANF foils bids to smuggle Rs2.794b charas, heroin abroad, arrests PIA flight steward

ISLAMABAD: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has foiled attempts to smuggle drugs abroad, recovering 2.8 tons charas and 4.5kg heroin worth Rs2.794 billion in two different operations and also arrested a PIA Flight Steward involved in heroin trafficking.

As per details, ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team during routine surveillance at Benazir Bhutto International Airport detained a PIA Steward namely Irfan Ullah Shah and recovered 4.5kg heroin from his possession. Heroin was concealed in his hand carry and passenger bag. The accused belongs to District Swabi and is serving with PIA for the last 8 years. He was on duty with PIA Flight No PK-791 scheduled to fly for Birmingham.

Meanwhile, ANF Quetta carried out a successful operation and seized 2760kg charas from desolate area of Killi Pir Muhammad Gohram, tehsil Mangocher, district Kalat. Charas was stuffed in 82 plastic bags.

As per initial investigations, the consignment was to be transported to Karachi through RCD Highway for smuggling to some overseas destination via sea route.

Both the cases have been registered at respective ANF police stations and further investigations are under process.
