KARACHI: The All Pakistan Customs Agents Association has decided to start its formal activities for the welfare and facilitation of the customs agents from March-2015.
This was revealed by a senior office-bearer of APCAA while talking to Customs Today.
The sources confirmed that a meeting of customs agents belong to both APCAA and KCAA was held recently in which they agreed upon to work together for the interest of the clearing agents.
The officer-bearer was of the view that All Pakistan Customs Agents Association will work for the betterment of the customs agents and ensure resolution of their problems which they have been faced since long.
“We are not here to manipulate the things or do politics, although we are here to resolve the issues of clearing agents and stand shoulder to shoulder along them in time of need”, he maintained.
Responding to a query, he said that 95per cent members and customs agents of Karachi Customs Agents Association (KCAA) have agreed upon to work jointly for the progress and betterment of the customs agents. However; a particular group of KCAA producing misguidance and do politics on the merger of KCAA into APCAA.
“We would have a more larger platform in form of All Pakistan Customs Agents Association (APCAA) in order to raise issues with Pakistan Customs-FBR, but a particular group of customs agents linked the merger of KCAA into APCAA, elimination of the representatives at Karachi level”, he added.
He made it clear that the significance of Karachi and its customs agents would not be eliminated with the activation of APCAA, as 80per cent of customs agents belongs to Karachi.
On the other hand, it is pertinent to mention here that a particular group of KCAA has planned to move to Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) against the verdict of Sindh High Court (SHC) in which it allows the APCAA to start its working as trade body representing customs agents.
