NEW YORK: Apple launched the new updated version of the MacBook Air with a fanless model. The latest MacBook comes in an attractive and stylish design. Having a fanless model, the weight of the MacBook is much lighter than its Air counterpart. To be accurate, the new MacBook weighs 0.92 kg, whereas the 11-inch and 13-inch models hit the scales at 1.08 kg and 1.35 kg respectively. In addition to this, Apple is promoting the MacBook claiming that it is the slimmest MacBook ever produced.

The surprise announcement for a 12-inch MacBook came along with its Air and Pro series counterparts. Though the latest offerings in the MacBook section have made prospective buyers glad, the availability of three MacBook editions has also created a state of confusion.

Being a loyal MacBook user, which edition of the Apple laptop should you choose? Though a section of buyers might choose MacBook Pro undoubtedly, the latest edition of MacBook Air and the new MacBook have intense competition with each other. If you want to put your hands on the better edition this April, let’s compare the two and discover which one has a more powerful configuration.

The two models, MacBook Air and MacBook, together offer a remarkable option to the potential buyers. However, when the two are separated, the MacBook Air gains an advantage due to its two-size availability. Therefore, if you need to carry your MacBook a lot and you spend most of the time typing, the 11.6-inch version is ideal for you. Alternatively, for users looking for big-screened MacBook, the 13.3-inch edition is a recommendable option.

However, there is a group of people who look for a satisfactory, not-so-small screen size on the available editions of MacBook. The latest MacBook is the most appropriate option for them as it has a display screen of 12 inches.

Hardware

In the papers, the MacBook Air has better configuration to offer when compared to the new MacBook. Though the actual performance cannot be measured until the MacBook is put into test, Apple promises not to disappoint the buyers with its performance. Moreover, the latest MacBook has a fan-less design, meaning that you won’t hear the disturbing fan noise while working.

When it comes to the processor, the MacBook is available in three versions – 1.1 GHz, 1.2 GHz and 1.3 GHz. In addition to this, the Turbo Boost functionality accelerates the speed of the three versions to 2.4 GHz, 2.6 GHz and 2.8 GHz respectively. On the other hand, the MacBook Air maintains its performance configuration with its traditional 1.6 GHz Core i5 processor. However, if you want a better configuration, a 2.2 GHz Core i7 processor can be purchased at an additional £130.

Price

Apple has always played smart with its pricing. The 11-inch MacBook Air costs £749 whereas the 13-inch version pinches an additional £250 from your pockets. Moreover, if the preloaded 4 GB does not satisfy your needs, you would tend to spend another £80 for boosting up the memory. Meanwhile, the new MacBook might be regarded as a costly device that comes with a price tag of £1049. However, the 12-inch edition of MacBook comes pre-configured with 8 GB RAM and storage capacity of 256 GB. Therefore, the prices of the two MacBook editions are pretty competitive in real terms.

Verdict

The choice of better MacBook depends upon the preferences and needs of a user. If you want a MacBook that can be carried easily for hours and offers convincing storage options, the latest MacBook is the ideal option. Alternatively, MacBook Air is more suitable if you are looking for a compact or big-screened Apple product.
