NEW YORK: Apple has stopped selling the iPod Classic to give way to its more advanced models. As a result the demand for the classic music player went up causing prices to soar. More than 3,000 iPod Classic units are said to have been sold on eBay since October, while nearly 2,000 are currently listed for sale.

According to media reports, Apple CEO Tim Cook explained that the company had no more resources to support the device’s components and the prospect of redesigning was too demanding. Apparently, there is still a large market for the iPod classic, which has a 16GB storage capacity which can hold roughly 40,000 songs and is twice the size of any current iPod. Some of these models are being sold in Amazon for up to 670 pounds.
