Appraisement-West PRV Cell recovers Rs 20m in Feb, detects 79 cases of revenue shortfall

KARACHI: The Post-Release Verification (PRV) Cell of the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Appraisement-West while following the directives of Collector Muhammad Saleem has recovered an amount of Rs 20 million (approx) in February, while detecting record 79 cases of short revenue recovery in which the importers were involved in mis-declaration of value, non-application of correct valuation rulings, mis-declaration of PCT, misuse of SROs and misuse of classification in cleared consignments.

According to details, the PRV Cell recovered Rs 1.87 million from Sufi Soap and Chemicals Industry on importation of OS mixture; Rs 0.58 million from United Refrigeration Industries on import of refrigeration gas; and Rs 0.16 million from Platinum Pharma on import of glycerine.

The PRV Cell succeeded in recovering an amount of Rs 61,349 from Searle Company Limited on import of glycerine; Rs 0.6 million from General Tyre and Tube on import of smoked sheets (RSS4); Rs 80,646 from Efroze Chemicals Industries on import of pharmaceutical raw material; Rs 0.55 million from Reko Pharmaceutical (Pvt) Limited; Rs 0.63 million from Arsalan Traders on import of aluminium non-stick; Rs 0.261 million from King Agency on import of blender parts; and Rs 0.66 million from Jass Brothers on the import of blender parts.

The PRV Cell also recovered Rs 185,865 from M/s Shakoor Brother on the import of medium density fibre; Rs 584,302 from M/s Meutro Pharma Private Limited on the import of ciprofloxacin; Rs 185,311 from M/s Mondelez Pakistan Limited; Rs 405,404 from M/s Goldway Hygine Product on import of mosquito coils; Rs 144,618 from M/s Kallar Khar Associates on import of steel concrete nails; and Rs 402,822 from M/s Sunlight Wood Products on import of veneer sheets.

The PRV Cell also recovered an amount of Rs 0.81 million from Ghani and Tayyab (Pvt) Limited on the import of veneer sheets; Rs 0.6 million from Qazi and Co on the import of phenol; Rs 0.12 million from SC Johnson & Son (Pak) on import of phenol; and Rs 0.18 million from First Imrooz Modaraba on import of mono ethylene.

The PRV Cell recovered an amount of Rs 4.8 million from Reckit Benckiser Pakistan on import of Mortein Powder; recovered an amount of Rs 1.8 million from B Brain Pakistan Ltd on import of I V Cannula/Catheter; recovered an amount of Rs 0.75 million from Hamdam Paper Products on import of paper; recovered an amount of Rs 0.77 million from Mol Enterprises on import of Gas hobs burner; recovered an amount of Rs 0.17 million from Agra International on import of sweet corn; recovered an amount of Rs 0.3 million from Seven Star Impex on import of pharmaceutical raw material.

The PRV Cell has also recovered an amount of Rs 0.13 million from Diamond Impex on the import of PVC electric tape rolls; Rs 0.3 million from Munir Impex on the import of phenol; Rs 1.2 million from Macpac Films Limited on import of polypropylene; recovered an amount of Rs 0.3 million from Shamoil Rafiq on import of cashew nuts; Rs 67,397 from Premier Formica Industries on import of phenol; Rs 55,985 from Zia & Company on import of men slippers; and recovered an amount of Rs 52,964 from Crest Corporation on import of calculators.

The sources informed Customs Today that Appraisement-West Collector Muhammad Saleem has expressed satisfaction over detection of record 79 cases by the PRV Cell and asked the authorities concerned to continue their efforts with the same zeal in recovering revenue through detecting violation of the Customs Act, 1969.
