BUENOS AIRES: In the framework of the Third Meeting of the Commission for Economic Relations, Investment and Bilateral Trade Monitoring between Argentina and Colombia, the authorities of both countries made proposals to boost bilateral trade.
The Colombian Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade (Mincit), Mariana Sarasti Montoya, who led the Colombian delegation in Buenos Aires (Argentina), said the purpose of bilateral trade was to promote the sectors that generate higher value added in each of the respective markets.
Representatives from both countries agreed to move forward on the pending dialogue “to converge towards free trade between both countries, including the addition of products that haven’t been negotiated yet and definitive rules of origin,” said Sarasti Montoya.
Argentina represents a potential market of over 42 million consumers for Colombia. Between January and July 2015, Colombia exported $75.3 million dollars to that market in non-mining-energy goods, 12.3% more than in the same period last year, said the Mincit.
