ASO Jhang seizes smuggled goods worth Rs 46.39 millions

FAISALABAD: The Collectorate of Customs Preventive ASO Jhang has seized miscellaneous smuggled Contrabands goods Worth Rs 46.39 Millions involving duty and taxes Rs 9.4 Millions during Raid with assistance of Local police.

Additional Collector Ghulam Nabi Kamboh While talking with Customs Today as smugglers are taking advantage of current COVID-19 situation in the region. Whereas Collector Fiaz Anwar directed his staff to curb the smuggling attempts in the region and adopt comprehensive strategy in this regard.

The ASO team jhang under the supervision of Suprintendent Anjum Sheraz conducted different operations in Faisalabad division areas and recovered huge quantity of smuggling goods items. Acting upon credible information received from the informer ASO Jhang Intercepted a 22 wheeler trailer Bearing Registration No TLD-933 in Shorkot City near Shorkot Interchange of M-4 Motorway.

The trailer was loaded with Miscellaneous goods including Cake (Brand Lento, Origin Iran) Quantity 480 packets Candy (Brand Aiton, Origin Iran) Quantity 180 kgs Raisin (Brand Golden, Origin Iran) Quantity 9400 kgs Juice (Brand Rani, Origin Iran) Quantity 48000 Packs (240 ml each) Citric Acid Powdered ( Origin China) Quantity 1025 kgs Milk Powder (Brands Varach and Montra, Origin Iran) Quantity 7975 Kgs Betel Nut (Origin Unknown) Quantity 1200 kgs Almond Non Shelled (Origin Foreign) Quantity 8025 kgs Almond Shelled (Origin USA) Quantity 2034 kgs in a 40″ container and was destined to Faisalabad.

The ASO team asked the driver to produce documents regarding the legal import of the items but he could not prove anything lawful. So the team seized the goods under the customs by laws. A case was registered against the accused and sent to the customs adjudication for further legal action. The ASO deposited the confiscated goods in Faisalabad Division State Warehouse.
