Asst Collector Asfand reviews performance of Rebate Refund officials

SIALKOT: Assistant Collector of Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Sialkot Asfand Yaar Khan visited the Rebate Refund Department at camp office Sialkot and reviewed the performance of the officials on the other day.

Asfand Yaar told Customs Today that the department receives 50 to 70 claims of rebate refund in a week by the exporters. He said the Sialkot Customs is receiving the claims of rebate refund at its camp office to facilitate the exporters of the region. The refund claims on exports are filed by exporters when their consignments reached the destinations through Sialkot Dry Port Trust (SDPT) and Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL), he informed.

He further said the customs officials scrutinize all available record after receiving the claims to ensure transparency adding the claims are rejected with objections by the officials if they observe any discrepancy while checking the record. The exporters can file claims after settling the objections raised by the department. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has strictly instructed the collectorates to check the record in depth while issuing any refund claim to exporters.

The assistant collector remarked that the department is striving to finalize the rebate refund claims without any delay. He said the department will clear all the pending cases of rebate refunds of 2015 before June 2017 up to Rs05million. He said the exporters are strengthening the national economy. He said the Sialkot is a hub of export with cottage industry which is earning $02billion per annum. He said the government is facilitating exporters and exporters should also facilitate the government by boosting their exports.
