LONDON: To celebrate their 20 years in the graphics card market, ASUS has just launched a new limited edition of their GTX 980Ti GPU. The Gold Edition GTX 980Ti not only looks amazing with its sleek black and gold paint job, it is also one of the fastest 980Ti GPUs in the market right now.

The ASUS Gold Edition GTX 980Ti is up to 21.6% faster than other reference models according to 3D Mark 11 Extreme benchmark. The GPU also provides improved gaming performance, up to 22% in GTA V. Even with these performance improvements, the card still runs pretty cold thanks to the tried and tested DirectCU II cooler that only runs cold but also silent.

ASUS’ 20th Anniversary Gold Edition GTX 980Ti comes with 6GB GDDR5 memory clocked at 7200MHz on its 384-bit memory bus. The GPU features 2816 CUDA cores and runs at a base clock speed of 1266 with a boost up to 1367.

The card also has some extra nifty features like memory defroster for enthusiasts interested in overclocking it. Memory defroster quickly defrosts the GPU’s memory during sub-zero overlocking to improve stability. There is also a LN2 jumper for more overvolting options.

For those worried about messing up the card by overlocking, there is also the Safe Mode feature that resets the GPU bios to factory default.

The backplate of the GPU is painted in gold with ASUS 20th Anniversary written on it in in large black font. The LED field on the side of the card will show the load level by changing shade through four highly visible color gradients to provide a real-time visual guide to performance.

The 20th Anniversary Gold Edition GTX 980Ti is expected to go on sale by the end of November. There is no price tag yet but since it is a limited edition GPU, the price would definitely be very high.
