QUETTA: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has launched inquiries in to two under-construction projects – Loralai’s Mara Tangi dam and a sports stadium in Zhob district.

Director General of the bureau’s Balochistan chapter Mirza Muhammad Irfan Baig approved launching the investigation in Mara Tangi dam after revelations that the under-construction dam was being neglected by officials, causing acute shortage of water and loss of billions to the national exchequer.

An inquiry to scrutinise investment in the sports stadium in Zhob was also launched following complaints of corruptions. The DG NAB Balochistan directed his office to take immediate action on complaints registered against projects related to water and health.

Earlier this month, the corruption watchdog arrested Assistant Food Controller PRC Muslim Bagh Hamyoon Khan and Mohammad Shabir in embezzlement of government wheat bags and the compensation money given to shopkeepers respectively.
