MINSK: The State Customs Committee of Belarus has commented on truck queues at the Belarusian-Lithuanian border, BelTA has learned. According to the source, the Belarusian-Lithuanian border is most popular with truckers and individuals these days. There are no queues for entering Belarus. Queues of outbound trucks may appear partially due to irregularities in the operation of the Lithuanian side. Software solutions at Lithuanian border checkpoints sometimes experience malfunctions, too. Due to restrictions on importing fuel to Poland most of the truckers choose the Belarusian-Lithuanian border to cross into the European Union instead of the Belarusian-Polish one.
For instance, up to 600 liters can be imported in the fuel tank to Poland and a full tank can imported to Lithuania. In July 2017 over 45,000 trucks were processed at the Belarusian-Lithuanian border, 7% up from July 2016. Belarus’ Customs advises travelers to keep in mind this information and to keep an eye on the queue situation via the dedicated website of the Belarusian customs service and the website of State Border Committee of Belarus. According to the latest information from the Belarusian border service, there are outbound car queues only at the Belarusian-Polish border. There are 180 cars at the Brest border checkpoint and 30 cars at the Domachevo border checkpoint. Anton Bychkovsky, spokesman for the State Border Committee of Belarus, noted that the current car queue situation at the Belarusian border is typical for the end of the week. Vacations are also a factor since many people choose to travel abroad by car.
