LONDON: Bentley expects SUV to help it double sales by the 2020 after its introduction.
The company has reported record sales of 11,000 cars delivered in 2014, which is a nine percent increase on the previous year.
The key regions of the Americas, China, Europe including the UK, and Middle East, all saw strong performance, with the Americas retaining its position as Bentley’s number one market, while China closes the gap as the second largest customer region.
Volkswagen-owned Bentley expects to increase sales to 20,000 a year by 2020, a spokesman said, after previously targeting 15,000 deliveries by 2018.
“We think the success of the SUV will lift us into a new dimension,” CEO Wolfgang Duerheimer said at a recent press conference in London, adding the vehicle would be unveiled this year, potentially at the Geneva auto show in March.
“The Bentley SUV will be the most exclusive, most luxurious and most expensive SUV in the world,” Duerheimer said, showing a video of the car driving up sand dunes.
