Brazil exports of gold, iron, steel products to US jump

BRASÍLIA: Brazil exported 1.82Mt of semi-manufactured iron and steel products to the US in January to October compared with 2.52Mt in the same 10 months of 2015, foreign trade department Secex said. Export revenue from the products slumped 40.4% to US$563mn. Shipments of semi-manufactured steel alloy products to the US jumped to 1.36Mt from 1.02Mt, and revenue increased 18.5% to US$478mn.

Export volumes of manufactured gold products shot up to 8,643kg from 3,342kg, and revenue rose 176% to US$342mn. Shipments of rolled iron and steel products to the US increased to 290,479t from 147,158t, and revenue surged 88.9% to US$169mn, Secex reported. Ferro-niobium exports fell to 6,729t from 7,868t, and revenue dropped 27.9% to US$146mn. Shipments of unalloyed cast iron slumped to 685,735t from 1.35Mt and were down 60.4% by value to US$160mn.
