BRAZILIA: Brazil’s Chamber of Foreign Trade (CAMEX) announced that it has extended the scope of the anti-dumping duty on imports of heavy plate from Chinese companies.
Following the publication of CAMEX Resolution No. 82/2015, imports of heavy plate with added chrome from China will be subject to an anti-dumping duty of USD211.56 per ton.
CAMEX imposed the five-year levy of USD211.56 per ton on Chinese exporters of heavy plate in 2013 following a complaint from domestic producer Usiminas that these exporters were selling the product in Brazil at below Chinese domestic market prices – a practice known as “dumping.” Brazil said Chinese exporters had begun circumventing the duty by adding chrome to their exports.
CAMEX also imposed anti-dumping duties on heavy plate from companies based in South Africa, South Korea, and Ukraine at rates ranging from USD135.08 to USD261.79 per ton in 2013.
