VOLOS: As the American space agency NASA’s Dawn spacecraft approaches the largest object in the asteroid belt called Ceres, it is sending back home some mesmerizing images of the largest object in the orbit of Mars and Jupiter.
The spacecraft has found some bright spots on a large crater on the Ceres. According to NASA, these bright spots can be reflection from the sun. They even believe that it could be either a natural reflective surface like ice.
NASA has even asked public to give their views through online surveys twice over the last few months. As per most people these spots on Ceres are not ice-like surfaces, they also don’t believe that those are frozen lakes.
But a closer look at the spots has revealed that they look small at first but as you give a closer look to pictures, they begin to appear weird it seems as if the spots elevate above the carter.
There are higher possibilities that the spots were formed after 2004 or were present there all along but the Hubble was unable to see them, as it wasn’t close enough?
The still images of Ceres show that sunlight does reflect from these posts when the crater fills with shadow at sunset and sunrise.
Therefore, it is ideal to believe that it is elevated above the crater and could be fresh ice or salts after a landslide.
