MOSCOW: Bulgarian Prime Minister, Boyko Borissov, highlighted the need for far more efficient border controls.
Speaking about his Government’s ongoing efforts to curb smuggling activities and duty evasion, Borissov stated that he is dissatisfied with the performance of his country’s customs officers and border police. He said that they protect the borders “absolutely unreliably” and that this impacts upon the country as a whole.
He has requested an immediate report from the Customs Agency as to how it proposes to implement more robust systems. He also said that a merger of the National Revenue Agency and the Customs Agency is likely.
