OTTAWA: The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) seized nearly 4.5 kg of suspected marijuana in a vehicle carrying to residents of the United States. The border services officers inspected the vehicle and found the suspected marijuana in a plastic bag in the trunk of the vehicle. The suspected marijuana was wrapped in a transparent plastic.
The suspected drugs and the travellers were turned over to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, which laid charges of drug possession and trafficking against the two individuals.
From January 1 to December 31, 2014, border services officers at Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle carried out 143 drug seizures, including 76 marijuana seizures.
