Central Region kick-starts preparations for Int’l Customs Day

LAHORE: The Customs Central Region has started preparation in connection with the upcoming ‘International Customs Day’ on January 26, 2015.

Chief Collector of Customs Central Region Rozi Khan Burki Wednesday held a meeting with all four the collectors of customs at his office Customs House Nabha Road. All the four collectors including Collector of Customs Preventive Mukarram Jah, Collector of Customs Appraisement Muhammad Zahid Khokhar, MCC Multan Collector of Customs Sarfraz Waraich and MCC Faisalabad Collector of Customs Tauseef Qureshi.

According to the World Customs Organization, on 26 January every year the Customs administrations of 179 member states of the World Customs Organisation organises various national events to celebrate the first session of the Customs Cooperation Council.

Earlier, last year Customs Central Region held a flag hoisting ceremony at the Customs House Nabah Road. Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Tariq Bajwa hoisted the flag and addressed the officers hailing from Lahore, Multan and Faisalabad. In this connection, the WCO dedicated 2014 to promote communication under the slogan “Communication: Sharing Information For Better Cooperation.” The chairman shed light on the importance of the event on the subject. Following the ceremony, the MMC Preventive blazed millions of rupees illegal contraband goods and articles including foreign originated wine, opium, chili and charas.
