Chief Commissioner Khawaja Adnan visits DTO Nankana Sahib, Shikhupura to review tax measures

LAHORE: Chief Commissioner Regional Tax Office- II Lahore Khawaja Adnan Zaheer visited District Tax Office (DTO) Nankana Sahib yesterday, along with his staff officer Deputy Commissioner Akbar Mayo. Chief Commissioner held meeting with the District Tax Officer Dr Zainul Abideen.

During the meeting, Dr Zain briefed the Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue about the progress being made in respect of Broadening of Tax Base (BTB) and strengthening the writ of the department. The meeting lasted for an hour wherein Khawaja Adnan Zaheer appreciated the steps being taken to implement the agenda of restructuring and horizontal movement of the field offices.

Dr Zain apprised that district Nankana hosts largest rice market of Pakistan. Through various meeting with the representatives of rice sectors, the business community has assured full cooperation in paying their contribution to national kitty.

Later on the day, Khawaja Adnan Zaheer visited District Tax Office Shiekhupura where Assistant Commissioner Malik Samiullah received the CCIR-RTO-II. In two hour long meeting the Assistant Commissioner Malik Samiullah and Assistant Commissioner Abdul Khaliq, the issues and progress pertaining to monitoring of withholding taxes were discussed.

All inspectors of Shiekhupura district submitted their working paper on various tax initiatives and activities. The Chief Commissioner directed the staff posted in withholding unit to get involve proactively in the monitoring of withholding tax deduction by various agents.

Sources told Customs Today that officers posted in both district, in the leadership of CCIR RTO-II are making great headway in implementing the agenda of Member Inland Revenue Operations Dr Muhammad Irshad.
