SANTIAGO: In the period between January and November 2015, Chilean exports totalled 58.161 million dollars, which is 15% less than in the same period of 2014, as reported by the General Directorate of International Economic Relations (Direcon).
Imports totalled US $ 53,869, which meant an annual reduction of 13%. Consequently, the trade balance closed with a surplus of 4.292 million dollars, “2,564 million below the balance of the same period last year,” pointed out the Direcon .
Non-mining exports amounted to a total of 27.393 million; a 13% drop compared to January-November 2014, mainly due to the reduction of industrial exports.
Among industrial products, the biggest declines were registered by processed foods (-1.204 million dollars).
Shipments of fruit decreased by less than 2% compared to January-November 2014.
However, plum shipments recorded a 33% increase, kiwi exports grew by 29%, pears by 18%, blueberries by 5% and vegetable seeds by 2%.
