MUSCAT: Geographical proximity and close cultural ties since several centuries have traditionally been the key drivers for the enhancing level of tourism between India and Oman.
HE JS Mukul, India’s Ambassador to the Sultanate, in a special address at the International Travel and Hospitality Show (ITHS), ‘Role of India and Oman in promoting the Tourism Sector’, said both countries possessed unparalleled assets – geographical, historical, cultural and architectural – that provide an enriching and fascinating experience.
The ITHS 2014 was inaugurated on by HE Eng. Khalfan Bin Saleh Bin Mohammed Al Naabi, Adviser at the Ministry of Sports Affairs at the Oman International Exhibition Centre.
The ambassador said “It is not without reason that the allure and attraction of Oman is summed up in the catchphrase – ‘Beauty has an address. And similarly you have ‘Incredible India’ that offers something for everyone all through the year, with every season offering an exciting range of tourist activities and experiences.
The ambassador said India’s tourism focus was now based on the concept, find what you seek 365 days of the year. He stressed that there was unlimited potential for promoting tourism between the two countries.
He stressed that that the government of India had taken several initiatives to make it easier for Omani nationals to travel to India, especially the visa on arrival facility for Omani nationals.
Over 3,000 qualified industry buyers and trade visitors are present at the ITHS Exhibition. Sectors related to travel, tourism & hospitality ranging from Investment & Development, Accommodation, Business Travel (MICE) and Tour Operators/Travel Agencies to Transportation, Media Information & Consulting and IT & Technology, are being featured prominently at ITHS 2014.
Held under the theme “Investments in Oman’s Tourism Sector towards propelling National Growth”, the Oman Tourism Summit takes place alongside ITHS 2014 from 14-15 December, 2014 from 10am-2pm at the Oman International Exhibition Centre.
