A statement issued by Mr Anas Mohammed, Coordinator of RI in Accra at the weekend, said the monitoring exercises carried out by its officials unveiled that some unscrupulous individuals are engaged in cocoa smuggling along the banks of rivers in the region to Ivory Coast via canoes.

It said the Customs Division of Ghana Revenue Authority should be proactive to stop the practice of the very slippery perpetrators.

“RI trusts that the state authorities can address this phenomenon immediately to salvage our economy.

“As crusaders against revenue leakages, we are calling on all meaning institutions of the state to join hands in dealing with issues of revenue outflow within all facets of the society, which does not inure to our national interest.

On that score, we are calling on all agencies to collaborate with one another to join the advocacy of fighting against revenue leakages in the country.”
