Collector Huda briefs Member Nisar on cell phones’ seizure

KARACHI: Collector, Model Customs Collectorate Preventive, Syed Muhammad Tariq Huda briefed Member Customs Nisar Muhammad Khan on seizure of 51 cell phone being smuggled into Pakistan at Karachi airport.

According to the details, customs official at Jinnah International Airport intercepted a passenger namely as Ajab khan who arrived from Dubai, UAE through Emirates Airlines EK-604, when he tried to get his baggage cleared through green channel.

“On suspicion of having an abnormal baggage, officials diverted him to the scanning machine and subsequent examination resulting in recovery of 51 assorted mobile phones from his suitcase worth Rs 1 million.

Customs recovered cell phones including 24 iPhones 6 (gold) amounting to Rs 727,200, 10 iPhones 5 (gold) valued at Rs 202,000, two Samsung Galaxy (Note Edge) amounting to Rs 20,200 and 15 Samsung Galaxy S-6 (Note) worth Rs151,500.

It is pertinent to mention here that the officials of Custom Preventive has already made a seizure report in this regard and arrested an accused named Ajab Khan.

Member Customs Nisar Muhammad Khan and Collector Syed Muhammad Tariq Huda have lauded the performance of Customs staff deployed at JIAP and hoped that the customs officials will continue to unearth such kinds of illegal activities.
