QUETTA: After assuming the charge of Collector Customs Enforcement and Compliance Irfan Javed, the anti-smuggling campaign in the jurisdiction is in full swing. Collector Irfan Javed directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling and anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt with iron hands. After these directions the anti-smuggling operations are expedited and customs staff thwarted many smuggling attempts.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Irfan Javed received credible information about smuggling attempt of hashish. He immediately directed all anti-smuggling squads to enhance checking on suspected routes. The anti-smuggling team intercepted a truck at bearing registration no: SEB-097 about 8.30 pm at Baleli check-post.
On checking 180 kilograms of hashish of high quality, packed in 1 kilogram plastic bags were recovered from concealed cavities specially made in the truck.
Sources told that the market value of the seized hashish excluding the truck is Rs36 million. The FIR is accordingly being registered. The drugs destined for smuggling to other parts of the country.
It is also necessary to mention here that on 16.6.2020 on directions of Collector Irfan Javed, Collectorate of Customs Enforcement and Compliance and FC (North) in a joint intelligence based operation raided two godowns simultaneously in the Kuchlak area of Quetta) and recovered huge quantity of foreign origins goods i.e. cigarettes, betel nuts, pan parag, tyres, welding electrodes, dry fruits, Ajinomoto salt and electronic items.
Sources told that despite stiff resistance from miscreants, the operation was completed successfully leading to the seizure of three truck load of smuggled goods.
The value of the seized goods is estimated to be approximately Rs40 million.
According to details few unscrupulous elements dumped huge quantity of foreign origin goods at godowns in Kuchlak with the intention to smuggle these to Quetta and inside country.
