BOGOTA: Colombian authorities conducted three operations in international waters in which they seized 1,522 kilograms (3,352 lbs.) of cocaine being shipped to the U.S. and Central American markets, police said.
In the first operation, Colombian police, with the support of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, intercepted a fastboat 463 km (287 mi.) south of Guatemala and El Salvador and found 744 kilos of cocaine on board.
In a joint operation mounted with the Colombian navy, police seized 616 kilos of cocaine in the waters of the southwestern province of Nariño and later destroyed the drug.
Meanwhile, Colombian and U.S. authorities identified another fastboat that set sail from Nariño en route for the Salvadoran coast carrying about 600 kilos of cocaine, the report noted.
