Cortana will be appearing on iOS, Android

LONDON: Cortana, Microsoft’s well-received rival to Google Now and Siri, will be appearing on iOS and Android.

Microsoft’s nifty Cortana voice assistant is set to appear on Google and Apple’s mobile platforms, it has been reported.

Details were scarce on a release date for these platforms, but Reuters said the service would take the form of a “standalone app”.

Microsoft is also working on an advanced version of Cortana that will make use of artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge technologies for many tasks.

“This kind of technology, which can read and understand email, will play a central role in the next roll out of Cortana, which we are working on now for the fall time frame,” Microsoft Research managing director Eric Horvitz was quoted as saying.
