The model was produced before the Customs Judge Chaudhry Mumtaz Hussain amid tight security and this time without cladding any traditional burqa.

During the hearing, custom authorities adopted the stance that the challan is yet not completed and lack some details requesting the court to provide them further time for concluding the challan against the suspect. Ayyan’s lawyer while opposing the remarks said that the officials should be directed to submit the challan immediately so that the trial can be initiated.

Customs authorities present in court stated that Ayyan was not cooperating in the investigation. While talking to fellow in-mates in prison, Ayyan said that once she is freed from the jail, she will shoot a film on prison life in Pakistan, highlighting the plight of inmates, according to a report. She went on to say that this film will be a bigger hit than her previous work.

A special customs court had previously rejected her bail plea on March 16 and sent her on 14-day judicial remand. Ayyan was arrested by customs officials on March 14 from Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad after $508,000 were recovered from her possession.

The FBR fears that the case against Ayyan may break down because it has not been framed under the relevant sections of the law, which would empower the FBR’s DG I&I to pursue it. The court after hearing the arguments of both sides adjourned the hearing till April 24 and ordered the custom authorities to present the challan in the next hearing while accomplishing all the necessary actions of the challan.
