AMSTERDAM: CSM Bakery Solutions, the business-to-business bakery supplier, is moving its global headquarters from the Netherlands to the US.

The company, which supplies retailers and foodservice operators, is to set up its head office in Sandy Springs, a city north of Atlanta.

CSM already has operations in Georgia, with a site 15 miles further north in Tucker.

A CSM spokesperson said moving the head office from Amsterdam to the US “made sense logistically”, with the company’s leadership team already based in Tucker.

The move, expected to be complete by the middle of next year, will see between 200 and 300 of the 800 staff at Tucker move to Sandy Springs. The spokesperson said it was unclear which specific roles would be switched but departments including sales, marketing, HR and finance were likely to be affected.

CSM’s current head office in Amsterdam also acts as a regional office and will remain open. The spokesperson said CSM had “no major plans to make big changes” at the site.

The company’s Dutch head office is a legacy of its history as a business.

Based in the Netherlands, the former CSM group sold its bakery supplies business, including its European, US and international bakery supplies units and the CSM brand name to private-equity group Rhône Capital in 2013 for EUR1.05bn. The deal included the site in Amsterdam.

The bio-based ingredients business that was left was re-named Corbion in 2013.
