Customs Court accepts charge sheet against suspect booked in polyester fabric smuggling case

KARACHI: The Customs Court approved charge sheet against suspect namely Amad Hussain son of Shah Afzal, who was arrested in a case of attempting to smuggle foreign origin polyester fabric worth Rs33,247,607.

On July 23, 2019 investigation officer submitted charge sheet against the above mentioned suspect and informed the court that credible information was received to the effect that huge quantity of non-duty paid foreign origin fabric stuffed coming from Quetta to Karachi and on pursuant to the aforesaid information, a team of ASO team mounted surveillance near Bahria Town at M-9 and during the search intercepted Nissan truck bearing registration number: C-1424.

He further informed the court that during the search customs officials recovered 9 poly propylene bundles containing 180 thans/ rolls of polyester grey fabric un-dyed/un-bleached total 15300 yards valuing of Rs528,179. 240 poly propylene bundles containing 960 rolls of HYS Sun Tex, Royal Touch Super FDY 108, fabric total 103, 680 yards worth Rs31,651,200 and 15 poly propylene bundles containing 108 roll of HAY AAA Grade Top Black 2018 superior quality Hi-Class abaya fabric 100 percent polyester specially made for high touch quality 81,000 yards worth Rs1,068,228.

He said that during the search, driver has not produced any lawful documents of the said goods, therefore, after the formalities, goods along with vehicle were seized and he was also taken into custody.

After the hearing, court accepted charge sheet against him and directed investigation officer to complete investigation and submit final charge sheet against him.

Court also directed jail authorities to produce the above mentioned suspect on next date of hearing.
