Customs Intelligence detects Rs 2m tax evasion allegedly by M/s Murree Brewery Company

KARACHI:   Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigations (I&I) has detected tax evasion of Rs 2 million through import of beverage cans allegedly by M/s Murree Brewery Company.

Sources told Customs Today that after detecting tax evasion, the Customs Intelligence and Investigation has forwarded a contravention report to the Customs Adjudication Department for further proceedings. Sources said that the company imported consignments of aluminum canes through their clearing agent M/s Prime Business Corporation by using the facility of Green Channel and caused a loss of Rs 2 million to the national kitty.

Sources said that Customs Adjudication has decided to take stern action against the management of M/s Murree Brewery Company due to its involvement in mis-declaration and tax evasion.

It is necessary to mention here that Customs Intelligence and Investigation authorities have expedited their efforts to curb smuggling in the region.
