Customs Intelligence impounds oil tanker, 40,000 litres diesel worth Rs 3.2m

KARACHI: The Custom Intelligence and Investigation-anti-smuggling has impounded an oil tanker carrying 40,000 litres of high speed diesel worth Rs 3.259 million during an operation.

On the directions of Intelligence Director Asif Marghoob, Additional Director Nadeem Ahsan and Assistant Director Kaleemullah formed a team comprising Deputy Superintendent Hajji Aslam, Inspector Parwez Ahmed Zardari, Muhammad Aqmal Hashmi, Rana Insram Rabbini, Munwar Ali, and Khurram Saeed to foil the smuggling bid.

The team intercepted an oil tanker and recovered 40,000 litres of diesel, which was seized under prevailing customs law after finding it smuggled one. The custom has registered a case number M-2148/DCI/SEIZ/2015 against the accused.

The officials said that Customs Intelligence confiscated 100,000 litres of diesel during last two months, adding that action will be continued against the smuggling.
