Customs Intelligence registers FIR against five bootleggers

KARACHI: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has lodged the First Information Report (FIR) against the suspects involved in smuggling of liquor/whiskey bottles and beer cans.

The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) and Customs Intelligence-Karachi, in a joint operation, seized liquor/whiskey bottles and beer cans on March 19, 2015. The value of the seized bottles of liquor, whiskey and beer cans is estimated up to Rs 51.9 million.

The FIR was registered by the complainant Muhammad Amin, intelligence officer of the Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation Karachi. The FIR number is M-2048/DCI/Seiz/2015.

As per detail, the seized liquor/beer has been deposited at the Intelligence State Ware House, SITE Area, Karachi.

Furthermore, the case was lodged under the violation of Section 2(s) 16, of the Customs Act 1969, punishable under clause (8) and (89) of Sub-Section (1) read with Sub-Section (2) of Section156 of the Customs Act, 1969.

The five suspects named in the FIR are Abdul Ghafoor, Abdul Latif, Baboo, Waqas Muhammad and Asghar Ali. They were arrested under Section 171 of the Customs Act 1969.
