KARACHI: The Pakistan Customs has prepared database values of 240 items and circulated it in all three Collectorates for uniformity of the customs valuation.
According to details, the database values were actually the values available in data and specifically circulated for guidance of the assessment officials so that they may not apply values according to their own.
Valuation rulings in case of 50 items out of total 240 items have been issued under Section 25-A of the Customs Act, 1969 by the Valuation Department.
Sources informed Customs Today, a list of remaining 190 items has been forwarded to the Valuation Department for issuance of valuation rulings under Section 25-A of the Customs Act, 1969.
Sources further informed that the committee comprising additional collectors of all three Collectorates including MCC Appraisement-East, MCC Appraisement-West and MCC Port Muhammad Bin Qasim with the consultation of the trade bodies including FPCCI, KCCI and others could revise the database values wherever required.
It further said that the customs values of major commodities including motorcycle spare parts, chemical/dyes and base oil have been re-determined with the consultations of all stakeholders including Karachi Chambers of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), Pakistan Chemicals and Dyes Merchants Association (PCDMA), Pakistan Keryana Merchant’s Association and All Pakistan Lubricants Commercial Importers Forum (APLCIF).
