KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Collector Muhammad Saqif Saeed has said that Pakistan Customs is playing vital role against the smugglers but after the directive of the Prime Minister Imran Khan the department is working round the clock to root out the menace of smuggling.
Addressing a press conference in Keamari Customs Club the Collector Customs Preventive Muhammad Saqif Saeed said that smuggling is destroying the whole economy and the Pakistan Customs is doing its best to eradicate smuggling at any cost.
Collector Preventive said that after a long time customs has started to curb smugglers even at the sea routes and the action is being taken on rapid basis. He said action was also taken against the smuggled cloth which was kept at Joria Bazar and during the raid culprits started firing on the team whereas request was also laid to lodge FIR against Custom team.
After the directive of the PM Customs is working round the clock to root out the menace of smuggling and the smugglers will be deal with iron hands. No pressure will be born, added Muhammad Saqif Saeed.
During the joint press conference the Additional Collector Haroon Malik said that not even in the past but Pakistan Customs will keep on give its best performance and media will be informed regarding the line and length of the department.
He said that action against betel nuts, Iranian origin diesel along with other smuggled goods several successful raids have been conducted and the war against smugglers will not end till the heinous crime is not root out.
Additional Collector Haroon Malik said that even in US cocaine is being used in different areas despite latest technology and man power. He said that smugglers have lot of money and if case is made on them then they hire expensive lawyer to fight legal war.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has declared Custom as the leading organization in curing the smuggle and we assure that every single smuggler will trace out because the smuggling is effecting badly over the economic situation, added Additional Collector Haroon Malik.
