Customs Preventive recovers huge quantity of NDP goods from AIIA

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive teams deputed at Allama Iqbal International Airport foiled many attempts of smuggling and recovered huge quantity of non duty paid goods.

According to the details, customs teams recovered two kilograms of gold, 115 smart mobile phones and 120 kilograms of betel nuts. Sources that customs team during routine checking recovered one kilo and twenty six grams of gold from a passenger who was arrived from United Kingdom and was identified as Asad Hameed. Sources told that customs team also recovered 29 smart mobile phone from a passenger who was arrived from Bangkok through Thai Airways flight.

During checking of Shaheen Airways flight no: 892, customs team recovered 37 mobile phones, while 34 mobile phones were also recovered from a passenger who was identified as Tariq Ali. He was arrived through Turkish Airways flight no: 714. Sources told that all the seized goods were confiscated after registering cases against their owners.

Sources told that Deputy Collector Ittrat Hussain directed all anti smuggling squads who are performing their duties at airport to adopt zero tolerance policy against smugglers. He said that anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt according to law.

Sources told that Customs authorities already adopted a comprehensive strategy to curb smuggling attempts through airport and due to this effective there is marginable decrease is being witnessed in the smuggling attempts the sources concluded as saying.
