Customs Preventive recovers smuggled betel nuts worth Rs150m from SITE area

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) recovered huge quantity of smuggled betel nut worth millions of rupees.

According to the details, Collector Saqif Saeed received credible information about the ASO squad conducted a successful raid at a godown in SITE area and recovered around 160 tons of betel nut which worth Rs150 million in the international market.

The Custom officer who is not allowed to talk to the media informed Custom Today that the recovered smuggled betel nuts are expired and is very dangerous for the health and the total value of the seizure is 161 million rupees. All the recovered Betel Nuts sacs are shifted to the Custom warehouses through trucks.

The higher authorities appreciated the efforts of the staff of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) for taking rapid action over the received information against dumped smuggled betel nuts.

The case against the recovered 160 tons of betel nut has been filed and further investigations are underway.
